and then there were dreams that hang on just so upon the moment of awakening.
a lady out of a movie was dressed to the nines and i was her aide. something about a missing pair of earrings and the deviousness of women. and then down a path following teenagers out in the rural west. we had just left town, and i had cats hair all over my clothes. to watching the sunrise and admiring the wisps of clouds that dotted above the trees like a well done oil painting by that fellow with an afro on pbs.
and i was wandering about hoping to catch a glimpse of you. in that scape i knew who you were, some tall lanky figment of my imagination. while i was being bored by my bosses ex-husband trying to flirt his way into something more intimate and while that fellow with that tie and darkling eyes laughed and slid closer and held my hand so firmly, i was still hoping for you.
boys with fedora hats and men with ease and charm.
there were lace up boots with gorgeous lace stockings, men who should have been named Alfred making me feel just at home. but in the memory of a dream, i wanted to curl up on that couch and ignore the cat hair on my clothes. let my friends make music and lean on your shoulder.
but then i was running through the woods, colder with snow. dodging some man running after me with a gun. there was a wolf. and somehow i became one too. and together we raced away.
raced away until i was in that little restaurant near chinatown
and the lady in lace with the missing earrings came by with her butler to say goodbye.

hell of a transformation. i really enjoy those dreams.
When will you be up here?
My schedule is hectic during the week--work during the day and my various jobs in the evenings--but the weekend is free. Is that when you're up? Drop me an e-mail...
